During our childhood, reaching the zenith of joy was synonymous with scaling a towering tree and perching ourselves atop it, energetically waving to our friends below. We'd beckon them to join us, emphasizing the breathtaking vista from our vantage point. But inevitably, the call from a parent would disrupt our reverie. "Come down, it's time for dinner," they'd proclaim. Sometimes, the only way down was a jump. Back then, we'd jump without a second thought, recklessly embracing the descent, returning home to a warm bowl of soup and succulent chicken roasting in the oven.
Now, if I were to ask you to take that jump again, you'd likely plunge into a sea of uncertainties. Questions would flood your mind: "Is it too high? Can I land safely? What if I injure myself?" The 'what-ifs' would multiply endlessly. Perhaps, if I suggested you climb that tree anew, you'd refuse outright, fretting over the prospect of falling or not knowing the descent route. Worries about potential onlookers and their opinions would also cloud your judgment.
It's a common refrain to hear people reminisce about the sheer bliss of their childhood. You probably relate to this sentiment. Despite having very little back then, happiness flowed abundantly. The reason? You were pursuing your passions without reservation, free from the encumbrance of 'what if' scenarios.
Now, as adults, our perspective on life undergoes a significant transformation. Experience is invaluable, but fear is not. Regrettably, many of us spend our days in discontent, engaged in pursuits far removed from our true passions. Often, this deviation is driven by financial considerations and responsibilities. We mistakenly believe that pursuing our passions would jeopardize our survival.
Think about that tree you once climbed, the one you eventually grew bored of. As time passed, you began to yearn for taller trees with more captivating views. However, you hesitated to jump, paralyzed by the 'what-ifs.'
So, what are talents? Talents are activities that you not only enjoy but excel at, tasks that others find daunting but come naturally to you. Identifying your talents may prove elusive for some, even into their late twenties and thirties. My response to them has consistently been this: Reflect on your youth, your childhood. What did you relish most? What held your undivided attention, causing time to slip away unnoticed? What activity left you feeling accomplished and fulfilled? That, my friend, is your talent.
It's disheartening to encounter individuals in their forties and fifties still grappling with unhappiness. Some may discover answers within the pages of this article.
Here's a fundamental truth: life is not solely about accumulating wealth. When we depart this world, material possessions remain behind. No logistics or shipping company can ferry your riches to the next realm. Even FedEx, despite its promises, can't facilitate this transfer. The Pharaohs of old tried, but their treasures ultimately vanished, plundered by others.
Life is a beautiful creation, a gift from a higher power. If something feels amiss in your life, if you're unhappy, it's likely because you're not connected to the 'Wi-Fi' (read the previous blog to understand the Wi-Fi concept).
Engaging in the wrong profession can lead to daily despair, sapping your happiness, hope, and vitality. If you're only working for financial gain, it's essential to heed the wisdom imparted by the three major holy books. Allow me to quote from the Bible:
"Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? [27] And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?" (Matthew 6:25-33)
Pause and contemplate this truth. It resonates deeply, revealing that it holds true only when you're connected to the 'Wi-Fi.'
Here's another crucial point: your body inevitably matures; you can't remain a child forever. However, failing to nurture your talents leads to their stagnation and eventual deterioration. This negligence inflicts severe mental anguish upon you as you age, a pain far more agonizing than physical ailments.
Lastly, recognize that every individual possesses a unique, innate talent. Your talent is your superpower, and you can only uncover it when you're connected.
Imagine investing in your talents, nurturing their growth. Eventually, you'll transition from a mere mortal to a legendary figure.
Talents manifest in various forms, and they require cultivation. Take drawing, for instance. While the demand for paintings may be limited in 2023, it's not a viable career for most. However, when you're connected to the 'Wi-Fi,' you can acquire new skills that complement your talent, transforming you into a product designer, architect, or more. Your true talent, in this scenario, isn't drawing; it's creation and creativity—your superpower.
It's not merely about what you're skilled at; it's about what brings you unbridled joy. To uncover the source of your enjoyment, delve deeper. You'll discover your potential for creation, healing, inspiration, leadership, entrepreneurship, or market analysis—the power to sell anything.
How many of us shelved beautiful dreams, choosing the safe path instead? Fear of jumping, overthinking, and hesitation can paralyze you, rendering you insignificant and a tool for others' ambitions.
Now, picture this: you're on your deathbed, replaying your life's journey. Your dormant talents surround you, questioning what you achieved. They remind you of your unrealized dreams.
I refuse to meet my end that way. I chose to jump. But you know what? I didn't jump from that tree; I jumped from a rocketship at the age of 34.
When you jump, your heart races, and fear initially grips you, especially the first time. However, you'll soon realize that everything falls into place. With every jump, a parachute unfurls, ensuring a safe landing. Most importantly, you'll savor the thrill of the descent.
My advice: never jump unless you're connected to the 'Wi-Fi.' Without it, that parachute will remain firmly shut.
Stop succumbing to the voice of fear. Fear is an illusion, a product of your imagination. Consider this: you encounter a dog, and your instinct says it might bite you. But it's only a distant possibility. In your mind, you've already scripted that scenario. What if, instead of fearing a bite, you envisioned a loyal companion who would save your daughter's life one day? Fear is a falsehood—something you fabricate within yourself.
So, jump. Start planning your next jump. Trust that when you're connected, nothing will go awry.
Strive to become the best version of yourself, to excel within your domain. If you're not among the top 10 in your field, consider exploring new avenues. Imagine if Messi or Ronaldo had become salesmen or doctors. Their histories could have predicted a different outcome, yet they, alongside their parents, dared to jump. They journeyed from Latin America to Europe, hoping to secure a future in football. Miraculously, they ascended from poverty to stardom.
If you have a dream, jump. If you possess an idea, jump. If you set goals, jump.
When you jump, your only guarantee is your 'Wi-Fi' connection, not your wealth, knowledge, or your surroundings. It serves as your GPS and navigation system, ensuring your parachute unfurls.
Live a joyful life, unafraid to pursue your passions.
